ArtSource Exhibition 2023

I am delighted to tell you that my time this year at Artsource was just amazing!! I felt that this year compared to 2022 I was more confident and settled into myself as an artist. This year I stood there looking around at all the other artists and felt that I belonged.I have earnt my place with them, I felt a fellowship.

“I am an Artist! I am good enough!” Finally that horrible shadow of “ imposter sydrome” is fading into the distance. “Begon!”

The run up to the big day was mental!. I was painting the last few pieces up to the week before . I had a sudden artistic flurish and I had to paint the two most detailed pieces I ever done. Crazy I know!! You know the wonderful energy that comes from nowhere that picks you up and carrys you along even when you know maybe you should stop and rest. Well I am so happy I didnt resist it!

These two paintings of seascapes were so well received at Artsource.I got such lovely comments on them and alot of attention .People came up to chat to myself and my husband Gerard( hired help x). The paintings grabed their attention ,the suns reflection as it danced across the water. People loved the realism and where fancinated by this some saying they looked like a photograph.

As with all these events in life at the time you are running on edrienaline. The buzz of being part of the biggest most prestigous art show in Ireland is so good. We met hundreds of people over the three days. We talked ,laughed and sometimes even teared up. The way you engaged with people when you discuus your work can be very emotive for both you and the person you are talking to. You get to hear their stories which come from looking at a particular piece. You get an insight into their life and I find this so rewarding and I fill honoured when someone opens up to me. Art can have a special deep effect on people. I get the privilege to witness this when I met the publc and show my art.

My work is more than just pushing paint around a canvas as they say,its full of my conscious and unconscious. I want my work to evoke a feeling ,if its a sence of calm or they bring a stop to your busy lives a time to reflect.

Deep I know! lol

Thank you to my fellow artists around me ,great laughs and support. Thanks to all at Artsource and everyone involved.

I have invested into my art and I feel this year its paying back. Thanks to all my supporters, friends and family. Some of my paintings are now hanging in their new homes I love that! I have a few commisions I am going to be working on from lovely connections with people I met at Artsource . One of my favourite things to do is work on something unique and bring a painting from an idea to a real piece of art. I am so grateful and I know how lucky I am to be able to work on something I adored . Its a privilige and I don’t take it for granted.

I look forward to the next 12 months and where it brings me. Onwards I go!

I hope that this time next year I will have another Artsource under my belt!
